Summer blooms in Sydney

Devonshire Street, Sydney - 19th January 2017. Sydney’s streets blossom with vibrant floral displays as part of the City’s Living Colour extravaganza. The City have a special installation in Devonshire Street along the new light rail route.
Summer blooms are brightening 14 of the city’s most frequented public spaces as thousands return to work in the CBD following the holiday period.
The summer edition of the City of Sydney’s biannual Living Colour display is now underway – featuring more than 100,000 plants.
Flower varieties including yellow marigold, laurentia blue star, coleus wizard sunset and lamium silver beacon are surrounded by edible varieties including mint, thyme, rosemary and marjoram.
“It can be hard returning to work or school after a wonderful summer holiday, but we’re hoping to cheer up Sydneysiders with our biannual displays of life and colour,” Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.
“Our stunning Living Colour displays have been brightening up Sydney’s streets for more than 12 years. We always make sustainable choices by using water-wise and edible plants which are always re-homed or composted after the exhibition.”
“We’re pleased to bring a special Living Colour display to Devonshire Street, Surry Hills, where residents, visitors and businesses will no doubt be enjoying the expanded pedestrian space as light rail works near completion.”

Installations can be found at Alfred Street, Castlereagh Street, Cathedral Square, Hyde Park Barracks, Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre, Springfield Gardens, Kings Cross, King Street Newtown, Martin Place, Taylor Square, Union Square, QVB, Sydney Square and Devonshire Street.
