Wanda Shelving System

Cantilever Interiors is delighted to introduce the latest addition to its family of cabinetry systems, Wanda. Usually focusing on sustainable integrated kitchen systems, with Cantilever’s origins in furniture design, it was only a matter of time before they returned to their roots. The outcome is the Wanda Shelving System, a series of adaptable, multi-purpose panels designed to support the ever-changing storage requirements of modern life.

Inspired by playful and functional designs of mid-century modern, Wanda was first conceptualised back in 2014 when Cantilever were exploring flexible storage and display space for their K3 series.  While Cantilever has been busy designing and making kitchens, Wanda has seen two years of intermittent pondering and perfecting. The first opportunity for Wanda’s actualisation came when our friends at Padre asked us to design a fun, flexible shelving system for their Noosa fitout. Happy with the result and recognising a need for storage that adapts to the way you live, Wanda Shelving System was born.

Wanda was subjected to rigorous prototyping and refinement with the result maintaining references to the crisp design language of K3. Throughout the process Cantilever focused on creating a product that was fit-for-purpose, stood the test of time and could be easily installed by most people. With these priorities in mind, Wanda incorporates the robust, sustainable materials of Cantilever’s palette, such as E0 Laminate, Compact Laminate on Plywood along with locally manufactured stainless steel shelf supports and Blum drawer hardware. The design allows Wanda to be easily installed on many wall surfaces and an installation aid, produced from recycled off cuts, is provided with each order.

Available in three formats, two widths and a variety of backdrop and accent colours, Wanda works as an individual piece or in an array. Her flexible format and palette allow adaption to diverse settings in homes, studios, offices and commercial spaces, providing opportunity for creative expression and an evolution of needs.
