Mix and Match with Sussex Taps

Sussex’s Design Studio app allows customers to mix and match colours and finishes, to create a bespoke tap, hand crafted in the manufacturer’s Melbourne foundry.

For Sussex’s owner and creative director Vanessa Katsanevakis, the app exemplifies the company’s evolution as a leading colour expert and innovator.

“As the world of interior design becomes more and more discerning of detail and colour resolution, we’re thrilled to be at the forefront of the trend towards customisation,” says Katsanevakis.

Sussex is known for its existing range of colours and finishes. From ‘living’ finishes which patina over time to reveal the unique characteristics of brass and iron, to enigmatic matte-black or playful green finishes, the options for personal expression through Sussex tap ware is endless.

“We believe tap ware should be the jewel of the bathroom and kitchen. Our mix-and-match service means clients can express themselves more freely to create something unique and special that elevates a space. After all, colour holds enormous power to reflect your true personal style,” says Katsanevakis.

The company’s pursuit of aesthetic perfection is embedded in its DNA via Sussex founder and Vanessa’s late father, Nicolaas van Putten, who was a jeweller and watchmaker before diversifying into tap making in the 1990s.

Precision and excellence have been at the heart of the company’s near three-decade long history, and is pursued from Sussex’s very own foundry – the largest of its kind in Australia – in Melbourne’s north. Local manufacturing has allowed the company to offer its customers unprecedented levels of customisation.
