Surface Paradise Workshops at bruny NORTH: Hands-On Textile Innovation

Bruny Island is set to become a hub of textile creativity this October as bruny NORTH presents the Surface Paradise Workshops — a weekend program led by acclaimed Australian textile artists Lisa Carroll and Georgia Chapman.

This immersive workshop series, Surface Paradise Workshops, brings together traditional textile techniques and digital innovation in a thoughtfully curated program designed for artists, makers, and curious beginners alike.

“Bruny Island provides the perfect backdrop,” said Georgia Chapman. “The workshops encourage experimentation while also highlighting the potential of sustainable and tech-driven approaches to textile design.”

“Surface Paradise is about reimagining textiles in ways that are both creative and sustainable,” added Lisa Carroll. “We want to give participants the chance to transform familiar materials into something extraordinary.”

Across two days, participants will explore screen printing, digital fabric printing, sequin and beading embellishments, and experimental fabric manipulation – all while surrounded by the natural beauty of Bruny Island. Surrounded by the natural beauty of Bruny Island, the workshops offer an intimate setting with limited spaces available.
