Plasticity

Plasticity brings together leading creatives working in the fields of spatial design, furniture, lighting & art practice.

The ambition for the collective: To be experimental, pushing design thinking beyond mere marketability and addressing pressing issues of consumption, functionality and new materialities.

Alt. material will be the platform that allows designers to share these outcomes and to provide an insight into contemporary design thinking.

The exhibition presents these works to a wider audience, with pieces being auctioned via the @alt.material instagram.

Funds raised from the auction will be donated to The Matthew Harding Family Support Fund & The Australian Marine Conservation Society – both causes that relate to the theme and exhibition.

Matthew Harding was a well-known Australian sculptor and artist who sadly passed away earlier this year, leaving behind a wife and four children. Plasticity will be offering half of the proceeds to help support Matthew Harding’s family. The other cause is The Australian Marine Conservation Society, to aid in clearing plastic from our oceans.

Guests can expect to see 23 unique and one-off designs by 23 creative and innovative individuals.

The opening night will be on Thursday 5 July, with the exhibition being open to the public Friday 6 and Saturday 7.
