McClelland By Moonlight: After-dark family event with art, music and light shows

Saturday 26 March 2022, 4pm to 10pm

McClelland by Moonlight is a special after-dark celebration of McClelland Sculpture Park+Gallery’s 50th Anniversary, presented in conjunction with the Ventana Fiesta, Frankston Arts Centre’s most popular cross-cultural event.

Enjoy the art, music, and wonderment for all as the park comes alive on dusk into night with a myriad of light forms to illuminate your imagination. The talent line-up will appeal to all ages, community groups and families, keen to nourish their creative spirits.

The Indirect Object

The artistic light installations and roving puppetry presented by the artist collective, The Indirect Object will create original interactive and immersive experiences throughout the Sculpture Park.  With their origins in experimental puppetry, The Indirect Object blend a handmade aesthetic with technology to explore the relationship between space, light, the performing object and the audience.

Worlds Collide

The musical entertainment is provided by Worlds Collide, a cross cultural sound from Western Sydney with a pop sensibility, reflecting their local and our global community diversity. New contemporary music with energy and fun which melds languages and genres to make you think and dance, with seven cultures fusing hip hop rhymes, melodic hooks, African percussion, Latin drums, Silk Road melodies and heavy metal guitars.

Morano

Connect with live painting with Morano, a local Peninsula artist who creates painting sculptures with a chaotic but musically rhythmic panorama installation – a sequenced chromatic light show will bring Morano’s spectacular vision to life at night.

Art with Nature

Explore a whole new world of Art with Nature under the Moonlight with McClelland’s guided nature encounters, interactive neon art workshops and a range of cross-cultural food and beverage options.

McClelland Director, Lisa Byrne said, “I encourage everyone to explore art with nature after dark in a family-friendly event celebrating 50 years at McClelland Sculpture Park+Gallery. We want all communities and cultural groups to feel welcome and particularly those who perhaps have never visited McClelland before.

“Our team have curated some wonder-filled experiences with interactive sculptural light installations and spotlight nature encounters.

“We believe everyone will enjoy expanding their imaginations through a myriad of light projections and light drawings opening up an awesome new world of wonderment,” Ms Byrne said.

McClelland by Moonlight is the culmination of four years of McClelland’s annual major after-dark event which has evolved from, the 2018 Performance Art event, to the 2019 Astronomy experience with telescopes and the 2020 Sundown event to support bushfire relief.  The common element is McClelland providing a community gathering point for all.

Come and play with the light and shadows, enjoy a range of local food and beverages and immerse yourself in the moonlight with family and friends.
