Mafi’s Domino Cladding
The District is a brand new, world class dining precinct located at Chatswood Interchange on Sydney’s North Shore. Petaling Street, one of the dining establishments within The District, has been designed by The Uncarved Block who chose Domino timber for the cladding.
The Uncarved Block selected mafi Domino Larch for its striking pattern of different end grain blocks. Domino is a dynamic product made up of 40x40mm raw end-grain blocks that are held together on a mesh backing and is one of our most sought after products due to it’s captivating appearance and incredible strength.
The design of the dining precinct is almost futuristic, yet has a strong sense of tradition and culture. The raw domino material encasing the restaurant offers an interesting, yet earthy naturalness where visitors can relax and take in their surroundings whilst enjoying traditional Malaysian street food.
The Domino Larch blocks are finished with mafi’s all Natural Oil offering a rich, golden appearance reflecting Petaling Street’s Oriental style. The natural oil finish provides the timber with essential nutrients to keep it robust and strong, allowing the timber to breathe and improve indoor air quality.
The timber is treated with an all natural process called mafi Vulcano which gives the individual blocks their unique colour, and at the same time enhances the durability of the timber. Mafi sets the bar high in the innovation and design of healthy, sustainable and long lasting products which are versatile enough to be used in all design styles.
Domino has been specified for many commercial projects in Australia and abroad, including bar tops at Hurricane’s Express and the ballroom floor at the Star City Casino. Virtually indestructible, the raw, natural and hardy nature of Domino is a perfect match for any commercial space.
Mafi Domino is available in both Larch and Ash wood.
