Polynova presents A Second Skin — a design exhibition exploring adaptable, enduring aluminium forms
As part of Melbourne Design Week 2025, Polynova invites visitors to explore A Second Skin—a curated installation of locally designed aluminium furniture and planters that embody longevity, adaptability, and environmental responsibility.
Born from Polynova’s roots in outdoor and planter design, this new collection marks a considered evolution into modular indoor furniture and bathroom pieces. Each item is designed to age gracefully, adapt to changing needs, and encourage repair over replacement—challenging the linear model of consumption and embracing the principles of circular design.
Crafted in Melbourne from aluminium, the range reflects Polynova’s commitment to low-waste production and material integrity. Bold geometric silhouettes and saturated colours bring expressive character to urban environments, while thoughtful detailing and modular construction ensure each piece can evolve with its owner over time.
“At Polynova, we see design as a conversation between form, function, and future, A Second Skin explores how furniture and objects can reflect the changing rhythms of life—while treading lightly on the planet.”
The exhibition invites architects, designers, and the design-aware public to consider how adaptability and longevity can redefine the relationship between people and the spaces they inhabit. In doing so, Polynova offers a vision for furniture that is not only functional, but regenerative—designed to be renewed, reimagined, and retained.
