Hassett Park takes home the 202020 Vision Green Design Award
Hassett Park in Campbell, ACT has been awarded the 202020 Vision Green Design Award at the Good Design Awards Ceremony held in Sydney last week.
Jane Irwin Landscape Architecture and Hill Thalis Architecture + Urban Projects designed the grassy oasis; taking home the stand-alone award, which recognises and celebrates the importance of green and living infrastructure design for our built environments.
Hassett Park is a new urban park in the public domain framework for Campbell 5, part of an upscale redevelopment along Constitution Avenue of key inner-city sites. The park sets a new benchmark for public domain design.
“Hassett Park embodies the mission of 202020 Vision, which focuses on not only increasing urban green spaces, but increasing quality green spaces,” says 202020 Vision advocate John Lloyd.
“This public area is now a park that connects and engages the local community through the imaginative use of space and greenery. It encompasses water sensitive urban design, bike paths, play spaces, native trees and is a poster child for outstanding green design”.
The park was judged on criteria including contribution to more and better green space, greater appreciation for plants and trees in the design and development stage of projects, biophilia, air purification, water sensitive urban design, product design and development that progresses green and living infrastructure increases and improvements.
The award was established in 2016 by Good Design Australia and the 202020 Vision to help raise awareness and to promote excellence in green design.
