What Goes Around

Designed by the architects at the Encore Heureux agency in Paris, The Circular Pavilion was recently set up on the esplanade at the Pavillon de l’Arsenal as part of the COP21 exhibition in Paris. The idea for the project was one of “circular economy”, where one person’s waste is another’s resource.

The facade was made from 180 wooden doors that were saved from an apartment building renovation, stone came from a supermarket roof, and the floor from used wooden exhibition panels.

The space was used for performances – puppet shows for kids, talks, etc. – furniture was collected from junkyards around Paris, lighting from obsolete street lights and other materials were gathered from Parisian building-site waste. The Pavilion will be dismantled soon and rebuilt permanently in the 15th arrondissement to become a sports clubhouse.
