Savers® to Bring Secondhand Style to the Runway
Savers® is hitting the runway this February as an official partner of the 2026 PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival, unveiling a bold new fashion showcase that reimagines pre-loved garments on Australia’s biggest style stage.
The partnership will see Savers® present the NEW AGAIN: METAMORPHOSIS RUNWAY x Savers® – a visionary runway celebrating the transformation of pre-loved fashion into bold, contemporary design. Taking place on the Festival’s final day, Saturday 28 February, the showcase marks a new era of sustainable style.
The runway will feature original looks from a curated lineup of designers including Cakey Sportsman, Pocket Money, Niamh Galea, Yanggurdi and Shiyo – each known for pushing creative and cultural boundaries. From conceptual streetwear to experimental couture, every piece will be crafted using garments sourced from Savers®, thoughtfully reworked and reimagined into bold, one-of-a-kind designs that celebrate the creative potential of pre-loved fashion.
Michael Fisher, Managing Director at Savers® Australia, said the collaboration embraces the brand’s mission to help Australians express their individuality while making conscious, sustainable fashion choices. Fisher said that “at Savers®, we believe fashion doesn’t need to be new to be inspiring,” adding that “this runway is about showcasing the creativity that can come from reimagining what already exists. It’s proof that secondhand can be bold, stylish and forward-thinking – and that sustainability and style can go hand-in-hand on the runway.”
Fisher noted that the campaign also strengthens the Thrift Proud® movement in Melbourne, where Savers® Australia first opened its doors in Brunswick over 27 years ago. He continued that “Melbourne has always embraced individuality and creativity, so it’s especially meaningful to celebrate that spirit where our Australian story began,” and said that “NEW AGAIN: METAMORPHOSIS RUNWAY x Savers® reflects everything Savers stands for – giving garments a second life while inspiring people to see fashion through a more sustainable lens.”
The collaboration between Savers® and the Festival reflects a shared vision for fashion that’s bold, expressive and better for the planet – celebrating creativity, self-expression and conscious consumption, and proving that style and sustainability can coexist.
Now entering its 30th year, PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival has grown to become Australia’s largest major fashion event and is celebrating three decades of delighting festivalgoers with world-class events and fostering the future of Australian fashion.
Caroline Ralphsmith, CEO of the Festival, said the milestone year will honour the diverse voices and evolving values of the Australian fashion community. Ralphsmith said that “as a true consumer event, PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival has the opportunity and responsibility to ensure we contribute to promoting a vibrant, creative and sustainable industry. We are passionate about supporting fashion circularity and facilitating the work of designers and retailers who use circular economies and upcycling to minimise their impact on the planet.” She continued that “partnering with Savers has allowed us to evolve our New Again Runway into an exciting new concept that demonstrates how pre-loved garments can be transformed into new masterpieces by some of Australia’s most-hyped experiential designers, proving that fashion doesn’t have to be brand new to deliver innovation!”
