1 SHOT 23 – HOME / AWAY, the second exhibition and book launch celebrating the work of Image Makers Association Australia members, has opened.

Officially opened on October 25 Sydney, October 26 Melbourne and November 02 Perth in Stylecraft showrooms, the exhibition uses the curatorial theme of Home / Away to explore the close and intimate to the distant and unfamiliar, featuring 45 photographs from Australia’s pre-eminent photographers presenting their interpretation of Home / Away.

In partnership with Stylecraft, the exhibition is displayed alongside a stunning collection of both local and international brands and products, exclusive to Stylecraft – a fitting context to explore the Home / Away theme.

The exhibition is installed across Stylecraft showrooms in Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney, reflecting the national breadth and individual visions of the Image Makers Association Australia’s members.

Our relationship with the overarching themes of Home / Away has changed substantially in recent years and the photographers reflect this with a mix of tenderness, awe, nostalgia, curiosity, contemplation and humour.

Home can be seen interpreted as a physical place, a feeling, a person or a memory triggered by a chance encounter while being ‘Away’ can feel exhilarating and uncomfortable in equal measure – not only based in geographical distance from our home, but in the extension of ourselves from familiar patterns and routines into the lesser known parts of our inner and outer worlds. The theme, Home / Away presents multiple pathways for contemplation, memories and imagined possibilities.

In all works across the three locations Home / Away celebrates the depth, breadth and vibrancy of Australia’s working photographers as leaders in the interpretation of the world around us and our place within it.

The artwork and bespoke book is available for viewing and purchase during showroom opening hours from 25th October 2023 until 19th January 2024.
