Funkis Melbourne store
The wait for Melbourne lovers of Scandinavian design is over with the launch of the much-anticipated funkis store in The Strand Melbourne.
Celebrating the very best of Swedish and Scandinavian design in fashion, home-wares, accessories and interiors; funkis is particularly excited to be bringing the brand to an eager Melbourne audience.
Head designer is Carina Enstrom Gibb. The project was Influenced by her Swedish, Gotland (island in Sweden with a very specific design ethics) and Nordic heritage. She wanted the store to feel earthy, friendly and aspirational, and at the same time she wanted to create a space where customers felt at home. Wherever possible natural materials were used, including quality timber. Key features of the store is the lighting as well as the custom-made steel shop front door and atrium at the back of the store.
“We have always had a strong following from across the border and have been waiting for the right retail space to showcase our amazing artists and designs. The funkis philosophy is guided by timeless design, functionality, style and sustainability. It is a perfect fit for Melbourne and the quintessential character of Melbourne’s historic Strand Arcade.” says funkis’ Creative Director.
Funkis’s core ethical practices and philosophies will also transition into the new store, with every step of production focused on sustainable creation and minimizing the company’s environmental footprint.
