Gillies Hall wins award for Sustainability Advancement at 2020 Australian Interior Design Awards

Victorian-based practice Jackson Clements Burrows Architects has been named the recipient of the Award for Sustainability Advancement at the 2020 Australian Interior Design Awards for its student accommodation project Gillies Hall. Read more about the project here.

This award recognises cutting-edge sustainable design and the jury agreed that this project is an “outstanding example of how the power of design can be used to express sustainability”.

This 150-room student accommodation project targets Monash University’s net-zero 2030 agenda and is currently the largest Passive House in the southern hemisphere. The judges noted the project “pushed the boundaries on certification” and praised the way sustainability is integrated in every touchpoint of this multi-residential project.

Charged with finding an exciting new way to hold this annual event, the awards celebrated its 17th anniversary in a different style to years past, transitioning to an online format for the first time.
