Brickworks Celebrates 10 Years of Certified Carbon-neutral Bricks

Brickworks, a pioneer in sustainability within the construction and design industry, is celebrating ten years of Australia’s first certified carbon-neutral bricks.

A decade on and they are still committed to seeking new ways of minimising their carbon footprint the company reaffirms its commitment to sustainability by achieving a Climate Active certification and unveiling an ambitious sustainability strategy.

Remarkably, Brickworks has already achieved a substantial 42% reduction in emissions since 2006 in Australia and over the past decade, the Tasmanian plant (Longford) has avoided over 70,000 tonnes of carbon emissions with the use of sawdust as a kiln-firing fuel resulting in a significant more sustainable manufacturing process.

Brickworks also has a clear vision for the future and are committed to achieving an additional 15% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions across their Australian and North American operations by the end of the decade.
