On the ground at A.G.M. Expo ’19

Friends & Associates’ annual exhibition has returned for 2019 with renewed vigour. Bringing together works from more than sixty of the best makers and minds in the Australian design industry, the exhibition is larger and more diverse than ever.

Under a single roof (that of The Stables in the Melbourne Meat Market building, to be precise) one can find pieces from both established and early-career designers from the realms of furniture making, light design, ceramics and glass blowing – to name a few.

The duo behind Friends & Associates, Dale Hardiman of Dowel Jones and Tom Skeehan of Skeehan Studio have continued their tremendous efforts to encourage and sustain collaboration across a wide range of Australian design practices.

The second incarnation of the show possesses an egalitarian spirit. Elaborates Tom Skeehan: “[A.G.M. Expo ’19] is really about showcasing not only early career designers, but established designers and the depth that we have here in Australia. This is a platform [for] all of their work.”

“It’s an honest slice of where Australian design is at at the moment. It’s been funded and created by designers, for everyone and for the public,” Tom summarises.

A.G.M Expo ’19 is held from 20 to 22 June, is free to attend and open to the public.
