This Is Not Memphis

An exhibition presented by Craft Victoria, THIS IS NOT MEMPHIS brings together six leading Australian furniture designer makers (Adam Markowitz, Bern Chandley, Bryan Cush, Damien Wright, Daniel Poole and Laura McCusker) to take a stand against mass consumption with work that is finely crafted, considered and beautiful.

“We believe that intellectual and physical quality matter equally. Making and designing are one. This is our vision of what it means to design and make in this country right now,” say Adam Markowitz, Bern Chandley, Bryan Cush, Damien Wright, Daniel Poole and Laura McCusker.

This is furniture that honours the power of the lived object. Crafted by skilled hands and built to last, each piece attests to the legacy of craftsmanship born in wood.

This Thursday, 3 May at 6-8PM THIS IS NOT MEMPHIS will be opened by writer and broadcaster Jeff Sparrow. The exhibition runs until 26 May at Craft Victoria, Watson Place, Melbourne 3000.
