Laminex 2015 DIA Design Awards

With a long history of sought after design events and celebrations, the Design Institute of Australia South Australian branch and fresh new council were proud to stage a fabulous awards evening at Tenth & Gibson studios with long term partner of 24 years Laminex on the 17 October.

Enthusiastically attended by new and established design industry identities their friends and followers, the evening provided the perfect platform to celebrate the incredible talent, indulge in some beautiful local wines (Hither&Yon) and experience a taste of what to expect in 2016.

A new nurse call assistive device by UniSA Industrial Design Incubator was the big winner on the night held in front of a packed crowd of design industry professionals in Adelaide.

‘The UniSA Industrial Design Incubator has offered up a solution which will revolutionise the way that hospital and emergency call buttons work.’

The gold winner in the built environment category was Studio Gram for Oggi. The judges had this to say about the project – Like good food this project is delectable – it elevates and delights through a refined and refreshing Italianate palette. Like its name Oggi is very new in distinguishing itself from stylised dining paradigms and yet it references architectural tradition, customs and vocabularies by employing elegant vaulted forms in an urbane and cultured setting.

The calibre and broad spectrum of entries continue to impress, and the awards provide a platform to celebrate the diversity of disciplines independently and in collaboration.

Destined to be even bigger next year, the DIA Design Awards will be the opening party of the APSDA (Asia Pacific Space Designers Alliance) Conference, will play host to some of the expected 1000 delegates, and celebrate 25 years proudly partnering with Laminex.
