Issue 55

In issue 55 we look at four renovations. In Brisbane Nielsen Workshop & Morgan Jenkins Architecture extended the rear of a tiny cottage by a few metres and in doing so opened the once dark undercroft. In a small Sydney apartment  Adriano Pupilli, removed walls and built a portal within a deep timber lined passage. Architecture Architecture reinvigorated the rear facade of a suburban home thereby activating the threshold between the indoor and outdoor zones and on a tight site in inner Melbourne, Make Architecture reconfigured a tangle of rooms into three new spaces and in doing so created a garden sanctuary. Also in our annual bathroom spread we look at six beauties designed and built for longevity, we profile designer Dale Hardiman and explore two gardens that produce food in very different ways.
