Eco-Living Expo 2018

Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, War on Waste’s Craig Reucassel and other experts on sustainable living will inspire the masses at the Eco-Living Expo, held at the Randwick Community Centre this Sunday 16 September, starting at 9am.

“The Eco-Living Expo is designed to be a place where people can make changes to their homes and lifestyles that will benefit the environment as well as their hip pocket,” said Randwick Mayor Lindsay Shurey.

“There’s a lot of information on how to create a sustainable lifestyle, so we’ve distilled it into an event that is all about innovation and inspiration. We’re particularly excited to open up a Sustainable Demonstration House, which will show all the ways people can turn their own homes into green homes.”

The day will include speakers such as Dr Karl, who will share the innovations that can help us all invest in and improve the future; Craig Reucassel, who will discuss the future of waste; and Erin Rhoads, aka The Rogue Ginger, who will discuss ways to achieve zero-waste living. All three will also participate in a panel to discuss what a sustainable future looks like.

All speaker events and workshops are free, but registration is encouraged: randwick-city-council.eventbrite.com

The Sustainable Demonstration House will show practical energy and water saving initiatives, and provide access to experts who can provide ideas on waste avoidance and minimisation.

The family-friendly event will include plenty to keep the kids entertained, including a live bird show; a reptile show; Bike’n’Blend to make pedal-powered smoothies; The Amazing Drumming Monkeys puppet show that teaches kids the value of caring for our environment; a craft tent that allows kids to create art from reusable materials; roving entertainers to delight and inspire; and a rock climbing wall.

There will be workshops, displays and demonstrations with an environmental focus, including information on beekeeping, creating your own compost and organic gardening as well as green cleaning tips.
