Mushrooms, Seaweed and Straw: Materials for Sustainable Building on Display at Collingwood Yards for Melbourne Design Week

An industry first bio-materials event exclusive to Melbourne pops up for the opening weekend of Melbourne Design Week. Susty Spec: Biomaterials Exhibition and Launch Party features Australian made regenerative and zero waste building materials as a follow up to the successful UPFRONT Podcast series launched on Spotify in 2025.

“The fundamental connection of humans to their natural environment underpins this exhibition, the need for renewable and zero waste building materials has never been so crucial and the beauty of these materials will be on display” says Isabella Peppard, Architect.

The exhibition brings together Australian commercial products currently available on the building product market from across the country, including straw board wall panels from Durra Panel (made in Bendigo) and bio resin product Byoxy (South Australia).
