Green Skills Hub Sustainable House Day event

How do you bring down your energy bills and make your home more sustainable, comfortable and liveable?

We’re all looking for ways to bring down our energy bills and house maintenance costs but where do we find the savings? Making your air conditioning more effective and efficient will be the first of five topics discussed by industry experts and TAFE Western Sydney teachers for Sustainable House Day at Nirimba College on Sunday, 13 September 2015.

TAFE Western Sydney’s state-of-the-art energy efficient Green Skills Hub will be open to the public from 10.00am – 2.00pm to host the event and showcase the building’s sustainable practices.

Renewable Energy and Sustainability teacher, Gary Barbuto will discuss solar panels and what is suitable for different houses and energy needs, followed by architect and Building Design teacher Prue Gibson, who will discuss sustainable building design from the ground up.

For those looking to go down the owner/builder/renovator path, Greg Cheetham, who has over 25 years’ experience in the construction trades, will focus on which building materials to use for a sustainable house. Cecile Weldon, founder and CEO of the Centre of Liveability Real Estate will wrap up the day’s presentations with the 17 principles that underpin ‘liveability’ in housing.

If you’re interested in attending one or more of the presentations, please contact TAFE Western Sydney’s Building Industry Skills Centre on 9208 7470.

The Green Skills Hub is located on Colebee Street within the TAFE Western Sydney Nirimba College campus, Eastern Road Quakers Hill.
