GECA Ecolabel Certification
The GECA (Good Environmental Choice Australia) ecolabel has provided procurement managers, architects, building industry professionals and consumers with an independent, reliable and credible way to make environmentally preferred choices since 2001.
GECA runs Australia’s only independent, not for profit, multi sector ecolabelling program and is the only Australian member of the Global Ecolabelling Network (GEN).
GECA – a better environmental, social and healthier choice
GECA sets the  standard for environmental performance across the life cycle of a product. These robust standards and the independent certification process also help manufacturers take action to improve the environmental and social impacts of their products. GECA enables consumers to choose from thousands of certified products and services and have confidence that they have a lower impact on the environment and address important health and social considerations.
An Australian ecolabel with a global pathway
GENICES status helps Australian manufacturers and suppliers whose products are imported and have already been certified overseas under another ecolabel, recognised by GEN. For these products, the process of achieving GECA certification under an existing GECA standard is more streamlined and cost-effective, often with fewer site audits or the need to resubmit documentation.
Recognition and exposure
The GECA brand is widely recognised by government agencies, NGO’s, procurement and building industry professionals, architects and consumers, as Australia’s foremost ecolabel.
- The only Australian member with Genices recognition from GEN.
- Recognised under The Green Building Council of Australia’s (GBCA) assessment framework for Green Star certification.
- Further recognised under the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia for IS certification.
