SKEEHAN Studio Launches Experimental Concept Space at Molonglo’s Dairy Road

SKEEHAN Studio will open its doors at Dairy Road from February to April 2025, transforming the space into a live, working design studio that puts its process, creativity, and collaboration on full display.

This activation will engage architects, developers, and brands in real-time through live design sessions, workshops, and open discussions, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at the discipline of Industrial Design.

More than just a workspace, the Studio will function as a design fishbowl, revealing the raw, iterative nature of furniture, object and product development. From daily sketching and prototyping to industrial roundtables and material explorations, the goal is to demystify design, celebrate processes and foster conversations about the future of Australian Design and Manufacturing.

At the heart of this initiative is SKEEHAN Studio’s guiding philosophy: “Commit to the Process, Live the Everyday.” It’s belief that great design is not just about the finished product but about the process that shapes it.

“Design isn’t just about the outcome—it’s about the journey,” says Founder Tom Skeehan.

“Our work is built on discipline, iteration, and curiosity. This space allows us to showcase that in real time and invite the community into our world.”

OPEN DOOR FRIDAYS! EXPERIENCE THE STUDIO IN ACTION…

Every Friday starting February 14th from 4 – 6 pm, SKEEHAN Studio will host Open Door Fridays. At this relaxed drop-in event, the local creative community, architects, and designers can firsthand engage with the studio process.

Visitors will have the opportunity to observe live design sessions, from sketching and prototyping to concept development, while exploring the materials shaping current projects. These sessions are designed to be informal and interactive, offering a space for open conversations with Tom and the team about design, process and ideas. More than just a glimpse behind the scenes, Open Door Fridays is an initiative to connect, collaborate and engage in meaningful discussions about the future of design.
