Open House Hobart Is Back for 2024!
Tasmania’s most popular architecture and design event, Open House Hobart, is back in 2024 for its twelfth program on the weekend of November 9 & 10, AND Sunday 3 November 2024.
This year’s program will be run over 3 days, including a dedicated ‘Day on the Domain’ on Sunday 3 November, followed by a host of buildings open around the centre of Hobart on Saturday 9 November, and a ‘Sunday Drive’ program on Sunday 10 November. With over 100 buildings, activities and walking tours around nipaluna/Hobart and beyond, the 2024 Open House Hobart program is stacking up to be the best yet.
The public is invited to experience architecture in all its shapes and forms. Explore the tiny footprint of #thebaeTAS, an experiment in micro-living by So.Architecture (formerly workbylizandalex), or learn about the urban realm while on a tour of the Bridge of Remembrance with architects from Denton Corker Marshall; see a classic mid-century designed home – Sinclair House – by Esmond Dorney, or find out about how the Forestry Building, with its iconic timber structured dome by Morris-Nunn and Associates, is being retained and restored to transform it into a learning hub for the University of Tasmania by Woods Bagot.
Along with building opens and tours, the program includes a series of events, including talks, exhibitions, a silent art auction fundraiser and a drawing masterclass.
Organised and run by the Tasmanian Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects, Open House Hobart is the local version of a global event first held in London in 1992 and now staged in more than 30 cities around the world. It gives visitors the chance to see how others live, work and play; look up, look inside, have a sticky-beak, and see the city from a different angle.
This event is made possible through the generous support of our sponsors and partners. Major Partners: Tasmanian Government and Futago; Partners: Austral Bricks, Lysaght & The Agency; Supported by the City of Hobart; Media Partner: ArchitectureAU.
