In its 9th year the Design Tasmania Award aims to further stimulate creative enterprise in Tasmania through the design and production of small objects, lighting and furniture.

The Awards are distinguished by inspiring ‘Production Ready’ designs through to the final stages to market and the 2016 showcase will embody the unique craftsmanship of Tasmania. This year the awards have integrated a platform that celebrates innovation in material, design and future production, creating rare opportunities for local designers and the prospect of launching some finalists into international audiences.

To celebrate this development the Design Tasmania Award has partnered with the Hawthorn Football Club, who share values of the energetic pursuit of innovation, seeking best practice solutions and continually challenging the status quo, making it a sympathetic fit to the unique culture of design innovation in Tasmania.

The Hawthorn Football Club’s platform ‘Furnishing Our Future Award’ is an acquisitive prize, which aims to build a collection of furniture prototypes, which show innovation in concept, design, material use and possible manufacturing technologies.

This new partnership builds on the Award’s longstanding supporters in Clemenger Tasmania, Specialty Veneers, Foot & Playsted, Henry Jones Design and Forestry Tasmania as the foundation sponsor of Design Tasmania Ltd.
