Art, architecture and dessert: Dessert Studies project by Pierre Roelofs

Dessert Studies is an ongoing project with fellow creatives. Collaborators are invited to present something for the project, be it art (#collagedessert), a house (#towerdessert), taxidermy (#deVilledessert) or a story. The offering is viewed through Pierreā€™s dessert filter and results in a delicious edible interpretation.

Pierre will have a Dessert Studies dessert on each of his menus for his remaining Dessert Evenings this year.

May 24, 25, 26 ā€“ Alice Oehr, illustrator
August 23, 24, 25 ā€“ Frankie Hadid, has a story to tell
October 25, 26, 27 ā€“ Stephanie Rampton, printmaker

Past Dessert Studies collaborators:
Andrew Maynard, Cindy-Lee Davies (Lightly), Michelle MacKintosh, Beci Orpin, Julia deVille, The Super Rad Nail Sisters, Maryanne Moodie.

Dessert Studies is a spin-off from a previous project that ran within the Dessert Evenings called ā€˜Menu Namerā€™(#menunamer). Pierre would present his written menu to creative friends and friends-of-friends and have them come up with some wild dessert names. Menu Namers included Super Furry Animals front man, Gruff Rhys, Jenny Hval, local Melbourne musicians Laura Jean and Emily Ulman, fellow chefs Adriano Zumbo and Robin Wickens as well as Hollywood director John Carpenter.

It was great to read the great dessert titles coming back from this project but Pierre wanted to be the one feeling inspired and being more creative. So, the conversation was turned around and Dessert Studies was born.

The Dessert Studies will be edible at Pierre Roelofs Dessert Evenings and the process shared on Instagram. #dessertstudies

Dessert Evenings are held at Minanoie, 33 Peel Street Collingwood. For bookings visit pierreroelofs.com
