2015 Premier’s Design Awards

The winners of the 2015 Premier’s Design Awards, which recognise and reward designers and businesses using exemplar design for business success, were announced on Tuesday 8 December at a ceremony at Government House.

The Blackmagic Studio Camera and the Food Justice Truck were both awarded overall winners of the 2015 Premier’s Design Award.

Hansen Partnership were awarded winners in the Architectural Design category for the The MacKenzie Falls Gorge Trail. The trail  re-connected MacKenzie Falls to the historical Zumsteins Picnic Ground after the destruction of a footbridge during flooding.

In partnership with the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC), the Food Justice Truck project was designed by Melbourne-based firm CobaltNiche Design and vehicle fabricator, VMS Group. The Food Justice Truck, a mobile grocer market, tackles the growing food insecurity felt by people seeking asylum.

The “best in category” awards were presented to the following entries:

  • MacKenzie Falls Gorge Trail  – Architectural Design
  • Melbourne Art Book Fair – Communication Design
  • Placing Melbourne at the Forefront of Sustainability – Design Strategy
  • Elements – Digital Design
  • Blackmagic Studio Camera – Product Design
  • Food Justice Truck – Service Design
