Going Green: Riga Mel White Plywood with Eco-glue

Riga Mel White is a Baltic birch plywood panel overlaid with a melamine film (on one or both faces), offering a smooth, glossy, hygienic surface that resists scratches, cracks, wear, chemicals, UV, moisture, and impact while being easy to clean—ideal for architectural and multifunctional applications.

Lignin‑based Glue (“Riga ECOlogical”):

  • Replaces a significant share of fossil-based phenol with bio-based, renewable lignin—a major by-product of Kraft pulp production

  • Achieves up to 49 % reduction in environmental impact (including ~26 % reduction in global warming potential), with 3× lower total VOCs and 20× less formaldehyde than required by E‑1 standards

  • Maintains unchanged technical performance compared to traditional adhesives, based on industrial testing

  • Developed with Stora Enso’s Lineo® lignin, ensuring traceability and supply stability

  • Supports compliance with BREEAM and LEED green building standards

Certifications & Emissions:

Riga Mel’s formaldehyde emissions are 20 times below EN 13986 Class E1, and comply with REACH 2023/1464, EPA TSCA Title VI, and CARB Phase 2 regulations. The product meets REACH certification, with no SVHCs >0.1 % by weight.
