V-Zug Opens New Studio in Melbourne Design Precinct
Swiss premium home appliance designer and manufacturer V-ZUG, has announced the launch of its new Melbourne studio, located in the heart of renowned design precinct, Richmond.
Taking influence from its existing spaces around the globe, V-ZUG’s brand-new Melbourne studio boasts 165 square metres of beautifully curated interiors with an earthy tonal palette that celebrates the natural and rugged beauty of the Australian landscape through a minimalist design lens.
Drawing inspiration from Australia’s iconic landscapes and rich culture of the country, the interior combines cool, natural textures and materials with the boldness and warmth of layered earthy tones. The result is an emotive blend of strength, tranquillity and elegance and the perfect backdrop for their premium range of kitchen and laundry appliances that are created to complement an interior, rather than steal the limelight.
The floor plan of the studio has been cleverly designed, to create an internal and external cube, allowing V-ZUG to highlight three beautiful appliance finishes – black, pearl and platinum mirror glasses – in their own spaces. The cube also delivers functionality with a hidden kitchen inside to provide the V-ZUG Gourmet Academy team with a place to prepare the magic for the regular guest dining experiences and events hosted in the studio.
Working closely with one of Melbourne’s renowned designers, Ross Gardam, the V-ZUG Studio features beautifully curated lighting and furniture pieces, including a custom designed sofa, created specifically for the new studio space. These partnerships with boutique designers are mirrored by V-ZUG around the world, honouring the V-ZUG commitment to embracing local through both a design and sustainability lens.
The studio also includes stunning homewares curated by The Front Room Gallery, alongside additional pieces from Australian designers DesignByThem and custom rugs from Rug Couture.
Behind the innovative studio is V-ZUG’s Global Interior Art Director, Gabriel Castelló Pinyon, boasting extensive knowledge and experience across passive and circular design. Pinyon has been integral to the design and success of V-ZUG’s existing mono-brand studios in London, Paris, Milan, Vienna, Copenhagen, Munich, Hong Kong, Singapore and more recently V-ZUG’s first Australian studio in Surry Hills, Sydney.
Gabriel Castelló Pinyon said: “For the first time we have introduced colour into the studio, paying homage to Australian outback and green bush landscapes, whilst keeping to the minimalistic principles of other studios. We wanted to showcase the unique aspects of the local environment through the overall colour palette and the interior furnishings while considering sustainability, quality, thoughtful design and local collaboration. ”
V-ZUG Managing Director, Nic Naes said: “After successfully launching our first Australian studio in Sydney in 2024, it was only fitting that we opened our second studio in the heart of Melbourne’s design precinct. Melbourne is well known for its design and culture and it felt like a natural fit to create a bespoke studio for visitors to experience our products in person”
Each V-ZUG Studio around the world has a unique expression of the brand that complements the individual soul of the location, whilst also staying true to the V-ZUG design principles of pared back simplicity and elegance.
