HIP V. HYPE Launches the Better Building Exchange In Brunswick Warehouse

Rapid deployment of low carbon strategies at scale to reduce the climate impact of our built environment is one of the great challenges of our time.

The Better Building Exchange enabled by HIP V. HYPE is a space dedicated to cross-disciplinary exchange aimed at amplifying ideas, skills, technologies and relationships to more rapidly decarbonise our built environment at scale.

Located at 427 Albert Street, Brunswick fronting Clifton Park and Gilpin Park, the Better Building Exchange is conceived as a ~300sqm temporary events, presentation and workshop space.

The space is enabled by HIP V. HYPE, with design and programming partner in Austin Maynard Architects and programming partner in the Sustainable Builders Alliance.

HIP V. HYPE is launching the Better Building Exchange on Thursday 30 MAY as part of Melbourne Design Week 2024, commencing with a panel discussion moderated by former Habitus editor Nicky Lobo, focusing on how genuine collaboration and capacity building can reduce impact whilst supporting exceptional outcomes.

Panellists include Liam Wallis, Founder & Director of HIP V. HYPE, Andrew Maynard, Principal & Architect of Austin Maynard Architects and Simon Clark, President of the Sustainable Builders Alliance.

The launch marks the beginning of an events series to be held in the space over the next 12 months and beyond with the purpose of amplifying ideas, skills, technologies and relationships to accelerate meaningful action.

The Better Building Exchange will feature local and low waste collaborations, including salvaged tree basin plinths by Revival Sustainable Practice and Australian-designed furniture by Urban Commons and DesignByThem.
