This Well Made home goes global at APSDA 2016

Bringing the creative talent of South Australia to global and local audiences, Guildhouse presents its new exhibition, home at the 2016 Asia Pacific Space Designers Alliance Conference (APSDA) in Adelaide, (Adelaide Convention Centre) September 24- 25.

An alliance of design organisations across 13 different Asian countries, APSDA builds robust dialogue and collaborations across cultures and design practices. This is the first year the conference has been held in Australia, global and local design leaders feature.

Keynote speakers Atelier Bow-Wow introduce the program with local design stars Khai Liew, Studio Gram and Genesin providing uniquely South Australian perspectives.

Expanding the conference theme of home, the Guildhouse home is a purpose built structure with kitchen, lounge, bathroom and outdoor space furnished entirely with work from designers, artists and makers represented on the Well Made online platform.

“We established the Well Made platform to champion our creative professionals to the world” says Rae O’Connell Guildhouse, Executive Director “And this exhibit demonstrates how everyone’s environment can be enhanced by bringing the work of our best visual artists, craftspeople and designers into your home”.

With original works of art, hand crafted objects, furniture and lighting, this home illustrates the wealth of talent we have in South Australia. Their work is easily available to local and global industry, designers and the consumer. The exhibition allows visitors to experience a real space and how the unique art, furnishings and objects enhance a home.

“This is the exact purpose of the Well Made platform,” says Rae O’Connell “to connect clients and industry to our creative professionals. Anyone can commission work through Well Made from small personal objects, to furniture and major public art works.

“Designers and industry can find unique pieces and producers for commercial projects. Our home shows the quality of the handmade and the ease and satisfaction of commissioning unique objects from local makers.”

With the exhibition open to the public on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th September, visitors have the chance to buy or commission pieces that appear in home.

Interior Designers, Julie Pieda (Koush Design) and Claire Kneebone, who are responsible for renowned commercial interiors including St Peter’s Library and Press Food and Wine, bring their distinctive design approaches to home creating luxurious, welcoming spaces.

Demonstrating creative and industry collaboration in action, Adelaide ceramicist Stephanie James-Manttan, designer Claire Kneebone and Beaumont Studios have worked together to create the unique tile featured in all rooms. It is planned that this will move into commercial production with Beaumont tiles.

Home shows the talent available in South Australia and how it can reach world markets by connecting with designers, specifiers and industry through the Well Made platform, events and partnerships like APSDA.
