Melbourne Quarter’s Skypark

The first stage of LendLease’s Melbourne Quarter (MQ) has recently been approved by The Minister of Planning, Richard Whynne. The vision is to conceive a special place that is a new statement for Melbourne; an urban transformation that is world class in the form of an entirely new city block. Melbourne Quarter is set to become a vibrant, integrated part of Melbourne’s CBD.

Bordered by two of Melbourne’s most iconic streets, Collins and Flinders, and directly across from Southern Cross Station, Melbourne Quarter will integrate exceptional design, city living, future workplaces, dining, retail and green spaces. Melbourne Quarter plans to dedicate more than 50% of the site to public open space.

The approval includes a 2,000sqm ‘Melbourne Skypark’ elevated above Collins Street aiming to bring nature to the city for an enhanced connection between people and their environment. ‘Melbourne Plaza’ will be similar in size to City Square and hopes to be the most significant public space created in the city since Federation Square. A new Melbourne laneway connecting Collins and Flinders streets are some of the unique experiences set to be enjoyed by tenants, workers, residents and visitors.

This park in the sky will be a unique experience in the CBD set to offer workers the ability to re-charge or work outside the office to enhance their health and wellbeing through the creation of an open green space with increased biodiversity, vegetation and tree cover and incorporating the fields of biophilia and biomimetic design.
