Doveton Street Renovation

This tiny, 120-year-old semi-detached cottage has been given a new lease of life with the addition of a new energy-efficient, low-budget, light-filled, north-facing living space, replacing a low-quality, dark lean-to. The multi-levelled cottage now cascades down past four original rooms off a central hallway, a new internal courtyard (where the old kitchen used to be), to the new living spaces, which are closely connected to the north-facing courtyard garden. Recycled bricks, concrete, plywood and timber continue the robust, textural qualities of the original cottage, and enliven the new spaces.
