Something Different
Paramount House Hotel was designed to give a unique take on Australian hospitality in Sydney’s Surry Hills.
It will open in April of this year; the concept behind the hotel was to deliver a layered, authentic local experience – far from just a bed for the night.
The iconic Paramount House building was originally constructed to serve as the Australian headquarters of Paramount Picture Studios. The hotel was designed by Breathe Architecture and straddles two newly-connected buildings with a two-storey copper-clad roof extension. Its neighbours include the Paramount Coffee Project, the art-house Golden Age Cinema & Bar and design-oriented co-working hub, The Office Space, plus a rooftop health club and outdoor garden café which will also open this year.
Each of the 29 bedrooms has been designed with comfort in mind, and features a sophisticated palette of concrete, terrazzo and timber with references to heritage and contemporary details. Crucial in any built environment, planting and greenery will be incorporated throughout and most rooms feature outdoor alcoves.
