Since 2014, a team of Robin Boyd Foundation volunteers have catalogued, researched, digitised, and conserved the Walsh Street Archive. The archive is now available to explore on Victorian Collections.

The archive makes the culturally significant collection housed in Boyd’s 1958 family home accessible online and offers new insight into Boyd’s seminal contribution as an architect, author, critic and public educator, as well as a view into life at Walsh Street.

The Walsh Street Archive, is a collection of over 4000 items: the known and visible library, furniture and artwork collection, and alongside these, hidden treasures including manuscripts, correspondence, slides, films, architectural drawings, and newspaper clippings found in the house.

Archive highlights include: Walsh Street Artwork; The Flying Dogtor; Sydney Opera House; Kenzo Tange; Tower Hill Visitor Centre; Arthur Boyd; Le Corbusier Buildings in India; Expo manuscripts; Stegbar; Domain Park Flats; Robin Boyd’s 1964 Slides; Canberra

In celebration of its launch online, the Foundation has curated an exhibition of archive highlights and accompanying public program including:

  • Walsh Street Archive Exhibition viewing at Open House Melbourne.
  • Walsh Street Archive Exhibition guided tour Thursday 4 August.
  • Slide Night: The Excitement of Expos presented by Prof Philip Goad Tuesday 9 August.
  • Slide Night: An Architectural Critic Abroad presented by the Robin Boyd Foundation Research
    and Collections Team Thursday 1 September
