MANRAGS transforms into UPPAREL

MANRAGS has cemented its authority in the fashion textiles industry by preventing one million textiles from ending up in landfill. A leader in the global circular fashion concept, MANRAGS created a textile diversion program in the midst of a global pandemic. Breaking down the barriers of traditional fashion by tackling the environmental impacts of textile waste, MANRAGS is pushing the trend forward for a circular fashion economy into the mainstream industry.

The former side-hustle start-up has taken on a life of its own. In just four short years, MANRAGS has skyrocketed into becoming the world’s first circular subscription essentials brand and the authority in textile waste prevention. The two entrepreneurial co-founders, Michael and Tina Elias, have decided it’s time to step up to the challenge of expanding the impact the circular fashion concept has on our textile economy, but also reimagine the MANRAGS brand.

The team has doubled in size, moved to three different warehouses to keep up with demand, had a hugely successful capital raise that saw over $750 000 raised and is now evolving its brand to best represent the company’s upward trajectory.

In 2016, MANRAGS started as a male essential subscription service, aiming to bring a bit of colour to your everyday life. As the brand progressed, Michael and Tina’s knowledge of the fashion industry expanded, and they were blown away by the amount of textile waste, at a mass production and mass disposal level. With this in mind, MANRAGS started with socks in September 2019, preventing over 13 000 kilograms of textiles from ending up in landfill. From that moment, MANRAGS has been shaking up the textile industry, paving the way for unprecedented change.

Fast forward to 14th October 2020 and over 100 000 kilograms of textile saved from landfill, MANRAGS has moved mountains and transformed into UPPAREL. Aiming to inspire people to become part of the solution, UPPAREL stands for positive impact, progressive change and is on a mission to make the textile industry a leader in sustainability.

UPPAREL sorts through thousands of products every single day to reuse and upcycle where possible. The aim is simple: extend product life and redirect textiles from landfill. In addition to the one million items of textile waste that have been diverted from landfill, UPPAREL has prevented over 400 000 kilograms of greenhouse gases from polluting the air we breathe. UPPAREL has proven over the last six months that sustainability equals success, providing the solution that is shaking up the fashion industry.
