The Directory of Good Design

202020 Vision has announced the launch of The Directory of Good Design to recognise excellence and innovation in urban green space and design around the country.

The Directory showcases best-practice green space design solutions in turning ordinary urban spaces into vibrant and interesting areas, through the integration of design principles and green space.

It serves as an online resource where professionals, government, community members and the public will be inspired and informed about the possibilities, innovations and solutions to making our cities more liveable and vibrant.

The first of its kind, the Directory of Good Design is an accessible tool and collaborative forum where people can share their experiences, learnings, and outstanding examples of green space design with one another, in order to foster social cohesion, productivity, health and wellbeing in our local communities.

In line with this, and to celebrate the launch of the Directory of Good Design, 202020 Vision partnered with Good Design Australia to create the very first Green Design Award – an award that recognises the important role of green and living infrastructure design to our built environment and to the overall health and wellbeing of our communities.

The Goods Line, designed by ASPECT Studios, was awarded the 202020 Vision Green Design Award for its innovative design that transformed a once dull, isolated industrial corridor into a vibrant green space in the heart of Sydney’s Darling Harbour.

“We are extremely privileged to be representing an exceptional team of creative designers, stakeholders and contractors as the recipients of the 2016 Green Design Award. We are honoured to receive industry recognition of The Goods Line as a valuable piece of social, green infrastructure in a heavily urban environment,” says Director of ASPECT Studios, Sacha Coles.

“As an initiative of the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, The Goods Line has reimagined the previously overlooked landscape of the elevated freight line as a strategic, spatially rich and highly experiential green spine, supporting the daily life of a growing Sydney.”

“The Goods Line highlights the potential that many of Sydney’s underused or forgotten spaces offer to developing more innovative, sustainable and connected communities.”

The Directory of Good Design will be hosted on the 202020 Vision website to encourage further collaboration and celebrate excellence in urban green design.
